Dreamer's Perspectives: Art Beyond Boundaries
From August 17 - 23, 2024, CAA held an art show, Dreamer’s Perspectives: Art Beyond Boundaries in collaboration with artists from Pure Vision Arts. Dreamer’s Perspectives was made possible through a creative engagement grant to CAA from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. The show included paintings, drawings, mixed media, textiles and fashion design by artists from CAA, its collaborating social impact womenswear brand, ALIVIA, Pure Vision Arts, and more.
Bringing together together the unique and powerful voices of artists from diverse cultural and neurological backgrounds, Dreamer’s Perspectives was an opportunity to showcase their creativity as expressions of identity, culture, and personal narrative. Every artist featured in the collection had a distinct vision, offering a glimpse into their world through their art.
Jasmine Ebron, CAA’s organizer and curator of the art show shares, “one of the best highlights of the art exhibition was meeting all the artists, meeting the friends and family who showed their support, and integrating the Center for All Abilities and Pure Vision Arts communities. There was so much diversity in the interactions, styles, and discussions, and it was amazing to witness each individual findings inspiration in another. The intention of this show was to bring together and highlight our incredibly diverse community, and the success of that was apparent through the relationships that developed.”
On the show's rainy opening night, guests enjoyed a warm cup of coffee at Dreamers Coffee House, the cozy local coffee shop next door to the LONG STORY SHORT gallery where the show was hosted, while being introduced to zine-making. Jasmine demonstrated techniques for creating handmade art books that capture ideas, information, and beauty!
Special thanks to all artists who participated in Dreamer’s Perspectives: Jack Peng, Yu Chen, Alanna Davis, Wanita Wai, Jermain Burnett, Lakiera Finklea, Alba Somoza, Roy Gabbay, Elizabeth Tian, Oscar Azmitia, and Armando Nuñez. CAA also thanks its neighbors, LONG STORY SHORT gallery and Dreamers Coffee House, for generously offering their space, and extends appreciation to Pure Vision Arts and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council for supporting this show.
