HeARTwork: A Virtual Art Exhibition in Collaboration with MOCA!

We are so excited to be collaborating with the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) to host ”heARTwork,” a month-long virtual art exhibition! It begins on September 9, 2020 and will be featured on the “Education” page of MOCA’s website. Starting September 9, you can access the exhibition here.

"heARTwork" is a special collection of pieces that feature each artist's innate creativity, each artist's expressive voice, and each artist's heart. Those with neurodevelopmental challenges often struggle with expressing their emotions, sometimes due to language difficulties and other times due to challenges with emotional awareness and/or connecting with others. Art becomes a way for them to express themselves freely and without words. Creating art is inherently playful, expressive, and rewarding, and its positive experiences of being “capable” and “in flow” are fundamental for growth and development.

This unique art exhibition consists of videos containing a variety of artwork by children and youth of all abilities. Through these videos, you will learn about each of the artists and their art-making process, capturing a glimpse into their world to further understand what the artist is expressing in their art. At the end of each video, you will get to virtually meet one the artists with footage taken from a live interview just prior to the exhibition!

We hope you enjoy “heARTwork” and what it represents. We could not be more proud of these amazing artists and are so glad to have found a way to virtually showcase their beautiful works. We are wonderfully made!
